This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2009
Gorgeous 10-karat gold ring commemorates Canada’s first Olympic hockey gold medal in 50 years and comes to us from the folks at "Intergold". A garnet stone holds the raised Olympic rings in gold, encrusted with no less than 32 real diamonds, encircled by "Gold Medalists - 2002 Olympics", punctuated by four more precious stones. One shank names Canada and its USA opponent in the gold medal game in Salt Lake City, has crossed hockey sticks with the logo of the Games and "Spirit Prevails", while the other has "Poirier" and "MT" with the years of Canada’s previous Olympic wins surrounding an enameled Hockey Canada logo. Engraved "Let the Spirit Prevail" on the interior of the band, the handsome ring is size 11 and stamped "10K" with the maker’s hallmark. In near mint-plus condition presented in its customized oak ring box with identified brass plate. Way to go Canada! From the personal collection of Stu Poirier with an accompanying letter of authenticity and an additional appraisal document listing the replacement value and the weight of the ring at 33.80 grams.
