Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2009
Die-cut stand-up advertising display features King Clancy in his Toronto Maple Leafs uniform circa 1931. The piece, used to promote CCM hockey skates, is on very thick cardboard with "King Clancy, Toronto Maple Leafs" and "Chosen All Star, Defence, NHL, 1930-31" at the top. Francis "King" Clancy was a tremendous competitor whose lifelong association with the game and consistent effort and rapport with the fans lasted throughout his career as a player, referee, coach, and executive. The stand-up mechanism is missing from the back but you can see where it once was, otherwise, the display is in very-good to excellent condition with bold colors and measures 10" across by 16" in height.
The beauty of the rare photos featured in this incredible collection of hockey memorabilia is not solely in the eye of the beholder, rather it’s obvious to one and all.
