The Royal Canadian Air Force Flyers represented Canada at the 1948 Olympic tournament in St. Moritz. Although it was a tough road for the Canadian representatives to actually make it to Switzerland to take part in the competition, once there, the Flyers set about restoring Canada's hockey supremacy. With the Olympics suspended because of World War II, the 1948 games were Canada's first opportunity to avenge its embarrassing 1936 second-place finish behind Great Britain, a team made up mostly of Canadians that claimed the gold medal. Coached by Frank Boucher, the Flyers won the tournament and Canada was once again on top of the hockey world. This vintage poster measures approximately 19" x 14" featuring a 13 '" x 8" team photo. This rare poster exhibits water damage, with stains in the lower left and right parts of the poster and very small stains at the top of the poster. Otherwise, a cool souvenir of one of Canada's Olympic champions.
