Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2009
Here is proof positive that there was hockey in Detroit well before the NHL came to town. This studio portrait is a team picture of the 1911-12 Detroit club team. The team's players are in full uniform, including skates, despite the photo's obvious studio setting. (Note the carpeted floor.) This vintage print is mounted in a wood frame measuring 20 '" x 17 '" approximately. The portrait was taken by the Baker studio, which has captured a great shot of the early days of organized hockey in the Motor City.
The beauty of the rare photos featured in this incredible collection of hockey memorabilia is not solely in the eye of the beholder, rather it’s obvious to one and all.
