Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2009
Not one but two future NHL'ers helped lead the 1923-24 Montagnard team to the Ottawa and District Hockey Association Championship, the team's third of four straight titles. The best-known is Frank Finnigan who played a couple of games with the Ottawa Senators that year and who started a 13-year NHL career the next season with the Sens. The other is Ed Gorman, a defenseman who also graduated to the NHL the following season, spending three years with the Senators and one with the Maple Leafs. Photo is by Pittaway and includes two impressive trophies. The thick cardboard backing measuring 20" x 15" is rough around the edges with some moisture damage/staining but the piece will still display well.
The beauty of the rare photos featured in this incredible collection of hockey memorabilia is not solely in the eye of the beholder, rather it’s obvious to one and all.
