Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009

Canada’s intermediate hockey champions of 1900-01, the Quebec Crescents boasted the talents of Percy LeSueur and Paddy Moran, who both went on to Hall of Fame careers as goalies. LeSueur was a right wing with the champion Crescents and only shifted to goaltending with Smith Falls in 1904. Moran took care of Quebec’s netminding in 1901 and he and LeSueur appear atop the round individual portraits of the Crescents players that encircle team captain Nolan. This original team portrait montage by the Montminy & Cie. photo studio measures 18" x 14" and remains glued to its original grey matte backing. The vintage print remains in excellent condition, free of the soiling that surrounds it on the vintage 24" x 20" matte. Bolstered by the addition of professional illustration board, the original matte has stains to note, particularly along the left side.
