Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2009
Scarce vintage black and white photo captures the full rosters of the Ottawa Senators and the New York Americans as they gather at center ice before their neutral-site match in Atlantic City, New Jersey on March 15th, 1930. The fantastic photograph has notes on the back identifying players including HOFers Roy Worters, Joe Simpson, Frank Clancy along with Frank Finnigan, Billy Burch, Rabbit McVeigh, Alex Smith, Joe Lamb, Hec Kilrea and Alex Connell. Condition is an issue with the piece. Creasing throughout and a couple of short, repaired tears along the bottom edge keep it from attaining a grading higher than very good. Still, a very rare and historic two-team image.
The beauty of the rare photos featured in this incredible collection of hockey memorabilia is not solely in the eye of the beholder, rather it’s obvious to one and all. The pages that follow are filled with incredible treasures such as original team photos of some of the earliest Stanley Cup champions that speak to the great and broad history of the game.
