This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/24/2009
In addition to being the father of one of the greatest goalie’s in NHL history, Denis Brodeur made a name for himself as a great Montreal sports photographer. Long before his son, Martin, wore a New Jersey Devils jersey for the first time, Denis Brodeur captured images of a wide range of sports stars, including members of the National League’s Montreal Expos. This collection includes a wealth of original Brodeur images from the 1970s of Expos such as Andre Dawson, Gary Carter,Tony Perez, Larry Parrish, Ellis Valentine, Steve Rogers, Bob Bailey, Dave McNally, Bobby Wine, Tim Foli, Balor Moore, Woodie Fryman and Dave Cash, to name but a few. New manager Dick Williams is pictured here during spring training in 1977, and owner Charles Bronfman and general manager Jim Fanning are shown catching more action in Florida before the team headed north. This fascinating collection of Expos pictures includes 40 color positives, more than 80 color slides, over 300 black-and-white negatives and still more photos on color negatives. These great early memories of Nos Amours are even more precious since the Expos played their final game in Montreal in 2004.
