The Chicago Black Hawks won their first Stanley Cup in 1934 in great part thanks to the stellar play of goalie Charlie Gardiner. Despite suffering from a tonsillar infection most of the season, Gardiner won his second Vezina Trophy and was named to the NHLs First All-Star Team for a third straight season before leading the Hawks to the Cup. Mere months after the teams victory parade, Gardiner was dead at the age of 29, the victim of a cerebral hemmorhage as a result of his illness. Inducted as a charter member of the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1945, Gardiners original black ink fountain pen signature appears on this vintage team autographed 7 x 10 photo of the 1933-34 Black Hawks. Manager Tommie Gorman has signed also along with Abel, Conacher, Cook, Coulter, Couture, Goldsworthy, Gottselig, Jenkins, Leswick, March, McFadyen, Romnes, Sheppard, Thompson, Trudel and assistant trainer Walter Calfish. This remarkable piece of Black Hawks and Stanley Cup history is presented in a black matte with white accent and mounted in a 10 x 13 black metal frame, and it comes along with a letter of authenticity.
