The 2009 Montreal Centennial Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/24/2009
The Montreal Canadiens captured their ninth regular season title in 1958-59, outdistancing Boston by 18 points, before setting a record with their fourth consecutive Stanley Cup victory. This miniature Wales trophy, produced in recent years following a request by the Jacques Plante Foundation in Switzerland where Jacques spent his final years, includes his name and that of the trophy on a metal plaque applied to the 2-inch high wooden base, while NHL Champions Montreal Canadiens 1958-59 is engraved on the opposite side. Led by Moore and Beliveau, who finished one-two in the scoring race, while Plante was claiming his fourth straight Vezina trophy, the Habs again were the class of the NHL. Silver plated trophy features four hockey sticks supporting a cup with lid and is in pristine condition. A letter of authenticity from the Plante family will be included with this fine souvenir.
