The 2009 Montreal Centennial Auction

Hammered, pounded, destroyed! 40 repairs on the left sleeve, 64 more on the other arm, 27 on the back and 26 more on the front for a grand total of no less than 157 stitched bullet-hole-style team repairs! Simply incredible. This well-worn 80-81 red Habs knit was worn into on-ice battles by Mark Napier during his third season in Montreal, one in which he posted a respectable 71-point performance including 35 lamplighters. The large embroidered Maska logo is sewn into the outer rear hem and neck tagging tells us that this one is a size 50. The jersey has an original plate but turning the shirt inside-out reveals that, at one point, it had the letters forming the Napier name sewn directly onto the shirt. A garter style fight strap is attached in the rear and the shirt also displays heavy interior pilling. Gotta love those repairs!
