Overtime Christmas Auction #9
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/5/2006
Future Montreal Canadiens star player and coach Hector "Toe" Blake is pictured with his Sudbury Wolf Cub teammates in two of these photos from the 1931-32 season. The exceptional panoramic photograph measures approximately 8" by 34" and has been nicely matted and framed. Decked out in their intriguing vertical-striped sweaters, the boys are all identified with their names added in blue ink above their images. White lettering above reads "Sudbury Wolves - Northern Ontario and OHA Champions 1931-32." Joining it is a glossy 8" by 10" creation which informs that Sudbury "went all the way", winning the Memorial Cup as junior champions of Canada. Sudbury, coached by former Montreal Maroon Sam Rothschild (who is pictured in the small photo), took their best-of-three finals with the Winnipeg Monarchs, winning 2-1 in overtime and 1-0 after losing the opener 4-2, all games being played in Winnipeg. Completing the lot is an unidentified real photo postcard of nine Sudbury Wolves skaters and a goalie. Terrific threesome for vintage team photo collectors to contemplate.
