Overtime Christmas Auction #9
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/5/2006
From the files of longtime NHL statistician Ron Andrews comes this guide-like publication produced by the Omaha Knights, at the time an affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings and member of the USHL. 28-page document leads off with “Omaha Hockey History” and even lists the starting line-up in the team’s first game in 1939-40. Rosters of the teams in the 1940’s include Gordie Howe in ’45-46 and Terry Sawchuk in ’47-48. Records from the ’47-48 season reveal Sawchuk was a second team All-Star and tied for the league lead with four shutouts. There’s a section entitled “Whereabouts of Former Omaha Knights Players” and each player on the ’48-49 squad is profiled, along with coach Mud Bruneteau. Without covers and simply held together by a single staple, the 8” by 11” pages are problem-free with just a little wear to the first page to note.
