Overtime Christmas Auction #9
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/5/2006
Superb piece of historic Stanley Cup finals memorabilia is this ticket stub from Boston Garden and game three of the ’45-46 finals between the Canadiens and Bruins. Our research reveals that Montreal beat Boston 4-2 in this one to take a commanding 3-0 series lead. Third period goals by Ken Mosdell and Dutch Hiller broke a 2-2 tie after Boston’s Terry Reardon had tied it up with a late second period marker. Elmer Lach and Mosdell had helped the Habs to a 2-1 first period lead, with Bep Guidolin scoring for the Bruins. Legends Bill Durnan and Frank Brimsek were the men between the pipes. Game was played April 4th with the Bruins staving off elimination with a 3-2 overtime win in game four, before the Habs clinched their second Cup in three years, winning game five 6-3 on Forum ice. Crease-free stub measures 1 1/2” square and has a punch hole in it. The original owner paid $2.40 to witness hockey history!
