Overtime Christmas Auction #9
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/5/2006
Popular big colorized photos on newsprint date back to the early 1930’s and were part of Montreal’s La Presse newspaper’s Rotogravure weekend section. Pictures of Ottawa Senator George Boucher (trimmed) and Montreal Maroon Hooley Smith are shrink-wrapped and display well and are joined by a not often seen complete 24-page illustrated section dated Saturday, March 28, 1931. Inside are comics, nice sepia tone photos and a colorized beauty of Toronto Maple Leaf star Charlie Conacher, pictured at age 20. Great crease-free image has rough edges but remains a special find. Pictures measure approximately 11” by 17 1/2” and feature three Hall-of-Famers.
