Overtime Christmas Auction #9
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/5/2006
Cool batch of goodies has to do with power forward extraordinaire Rick Vaive's first of three consecutive 50-goal seasons. An original caricature by artist Paul Beare lists the time, date and opponent of Rick's historic goal and measures 14" by 15 1/2". A four-layered printer's proof photo of the goal on St. Louis' Mike Liut and a ticket stub from the game are also present, as is a congratulatory certificate from the city of Toronto and signed by mayor Art Eggleton. A huge 3.79-litre empty bottle of Canadian Club whisky has a label that in part reads "Bottled Especially for Rick Vaive on the Occasion of his 50th Goal - Toronto Maple Leafs 1981/82." Also thrown in the lot is a letter signed "John" from NHL president John Ziegler and congratulating Vaive on his 400th career goal. Rick became the first Leafs player to ever hit the 50-goal mark and totaled 441 goals in his impressive career.
