Overtime Christmas Auction #9
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/5/2006
A hard-nosed defenceman who endured 13 seasons in the NHL, Garth Butcher wore this white knit Kamloops Junior Oilers jersey during the ’82-83 season, the same year he made his NHL debut, appearing in 55 games with the Vancouver Canucks. Butcher suited up a total of 11 times with Kamloops after three seasons with the Regina Pats, the last featuring 92 points (28 of them goals) and 318 penalty minutes. Great junior enforcer jersey includes sewn-on crest and numbers while “Butcher” is screened onto a nameplate which was sewn on over where another had previously been. With a double cloth fight strap in the tail, the jersey shows nice game use with a blood stain on the front, to the right of the Oilers crest and red and blue board paint transfers on the sleeves where snags and miscellaneous small holes can be spotted. The left sleeve includes two material-backed box style team repairs and there’s a series of five small holes on the lower front, near the left seam. A half-detached and tattered Maska company tag dangles in the neck. Cool junior gamer will be accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Drop The Gloves.
