Overtime Christmas Auction #9
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/5/2006
Another rarity from Team Canada’s incredible journey in September of 1972 is this full ticket from the game the NHL stars played September 30th in Prague, after their heroic comeback in the Canada-Russia Series, sealed with Paul Henderson’s winning goals in games 6, 7 and 8 of the epic battle. The paper ticket measures a little over 1 1/2” by 4” and is full and not torn. There are two staple holes near the left edge to mention. The mostly meaningless game between Team Canada and the Czechs was actually very meaningful for Stan Mikita, who was born in Czechoslovakia, and who was named captain of the team for the game by Harry Sinden. Mikita’s family, including his mother who was still alive, got the chance to see the game and visit with Stan and other players afterwards in what Mikita later described as a very emotional day for him. Another serious piece for serious Canada-Russia series collectors.
