Overtime Christmas Auction #9
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/5/2006
Black and white photo of “Apple Cheeks” dressed in his “Motor City” sweater is mounted with a blue ink pen cut signature of this deceased (1998) Hall-of-Famer. Starting in 1945-46, and for the next five years, Lumley and the Red Wings established themselves among the league's best in a very competitive era. Twice he led the league in wins and games played and had the most shutouts during the regular season in 1947-48. In 1950 Lumley won his first and only Stanley Cup. He had three shutouts in the playoffs and a minuscule 1.85 goals-against average. Photo itself measures 8” by 10” and has been matted and framed to 13” x 16” in a wood frame. The marvelous display piece will look awesome in your Wings/goalie shrine.
