Overtime Christmas Auction #9
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/5/2006
An EX condition card of hockey Hall-of-Famer Jack Laviolette is from Imperial Tobacco’s lacrosse card set which has obvious similarities to its C57 hockey card set of 1911-12. Pictured in his Montreal “National” uniform, Laviolette actually formed the Montreal Canadiens in 1909, first playing defence and then later on a line with fellow Hall-of-Famers Didier Pitre and Newsy Lalonde. A member of the Habs’ first Stanley Cup championship team in 1915-16, Laviolette was one of only three men inducted to the Hockey Hall of Fame and Canada Sports Hall of Fame prior to 1970, being named to the latter for his prowess as a lacrosse player. Joining Jack’s card here is a VG card (#18-B. Hutton) from another of Imperial Tobacco’s early lacrosse sets.
