Overtime Christmas Auction #9
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/5/2006
Excellent example of how the screening on old Quebec Nordiques jerseys sometimes cracks and peels with this blue knit Nords jersey donned by defenceman Gary Lariviere. The St. Catharines Black Hawks’ grad saw action with the Nordiques for parts of three WHA seasons and was there when Quebec joined the NHL in ‘79-80. A half-detached Maska Ultrafil tag is in the neck where a washing instructions tag indicates size 52. With a double-cloth fight strap and “Maska” embroidered into the rear hem, the jersey shows good game use with notably a couple of one-inch slices on each sleeve where a few other small holes/snags also can be spotted. Red paint transfer, including a four-inch mark through the “Maska” on the hem, is also to mention. As you can see, there is significant cracking and peeling in the crest (which Garry autographed), the numbers, the letters across the nameplate and the flowers. It’ll be an inexpensive pickup for a game worn collection.
