Overtime Christmas Auction #9
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/5/2006
It was out of the old and into the new for the New York Rangers during the ’67-68 season as the Blueshirts played their last game at the “old” Garden and moved into the “new” Madison Square Garden Center in February of 1968. This is a program from that last game at the building where the Rangers had played since their inception in 1926. Sunday, February 11, 1968 was the date and Gordie Howe and the Red Wings were the opposition. 56-page program is loaded with interesting Rangers’ history and stories as told by some of the reporters who watched the team over the years, including Stan Fischler, Tim Moriarty, Joe Nichols, Al Laney and Herb Goren. Photos galore as well and the back cover is autographed in blue ballpoint by Red Sullivan. Program shows some handling and wear but is in the collectible “EX” range with the scorecard pages filled in, revealing that Jean Ratelle and Norm Ullman each scored twice for their respective teams in a 3-3 tie. Appealing memorabilia from a historic night and a must for a serious Rangers/program collection.
