Overtime Christmas Auction #9
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/5/2006
Some never before seen beauties here are the work of famous Montreal Canadiens photographer David Bier and include both prints and negatives. Here’s the lowdown: There are 21 glossy 5” by 7” photos and seven similar but matte-finish head-and-shoulder photos of Canadiens from circa 1963 to 1967 and with “Rough Proof” stamped on the lower fronts. Included are (glossy) photos of Blake (2 different), VP Reardon (4 diff.), H. Richard, Laperriere, Rousseau, Backstrom, J.C. Tremblay (2 diff.), G. Tremblay, Harper, Hicke, Balon, Berenson, J.G. Morrisette, trainers Galley and Aubut (2 diff.) and (matte-finish) photos of Cournoyer, Larose and Roberts (5 diff.). Striking clarity to mention, along with “Photo by David Bier” stamped on the back of each. There are then over 20 similar size negatives which will produce similar great shots. Some of the already mentioned players are present (possibly slightly different poses) but also including Plante, Geoffrion, Worsley, Ferguson and Talbot, and with more than one pose by some. Completing the booty are three 4” by 5” negatives of Jean-Guy Gendron and (17) negatives measuring 2 1/4” and from Canadiens’ 1969 playoff series against the Rangers and Blues, although no action shots. Dressing room scenes include Vachon, Cournoyer, Ferguson, Provost, Harris and coach Ruel. Some wonderful surprises for the lucky high bidder of this intriguing collection.
