Overtime Christmas Auction #9
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/5/2006
A natural for our Bleu, Blanc, Rouge section, this original 8” by 10” photo captures future Montreal Canadiens’ legend Jacques Plante wearing one of his famed toques while standing amongst his Quebec Citadel teammates. Plante played his second of two junior seasons with the Citadels in ’48-49, posting an impressive 35-8-4 record with a 1.99 goals-against-average. It was then on to Senior hockey and three-and-a-half seasons with the Montreal Royals before graduating to the Habs and the NHL. Glossy photo is stamped in part “Photo Moderne – Quebec” on the reverse and is in EX condition with no major flaws, including pinholes or tears. Wearing the assistant captain’s “A” in the front row is another future Canadien, Jackie Leclair, while Plante is near the middle of the second row. Fantastic piece from when the “Snake” was still a teenager!
