Overtime Christmas Auction #9
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/5/2006
Two of the biggest names in the history of the Montreal Canadiens are pictured here in big (approximately 11 1/4” x 17 1/2”) colorized images that were part of Montreal’s La Presse newspaper’s Rotogravure weekend section in the late 1920’s and early 1930’s. On newsprint, the Morenz photo is dated December 10, 1927 and is in G-VG condition with a 1-inch tear in the middle of the top edge, a couple of missing corners, a little back tape repair along the bottom edge and a few insignificant light creases and small edge tears. The Vezina appeared March 3, 1928 and is in similar G-VG shape with notably two small pieces missing along the top edge and moisture stains and back tape repair along the lower edge. Both still will display nicely once matted and framed. The captions state how Morenz has become one of the Canadiens’ brightest stars and how Vezina has remained the public’s idol nearly two years after his death.
