Overtime Christmas Auction #9
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/5/2006
Considered by many historians as hockey’s greatest right winger of the pre-war era, New York Ranger Bill Cook won two NHL scoring championships, led the league in goals scored three times and helped the Blueshirts to the Stanley Cup in 1927-28 and ’32-33, forming an awesome line with brother Bun and Frank Boucher. What looks to be a reproduction photo here has been matted and matched up with the clipped reverse of an envelope which Bill had signed “W O Cook” before penning his “431 Palace Rd., Kingston, Ont” address. A three-time scoring champ in the Western Canada Hockey League before becoming an original Ranger, Cook was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1952 and died in 1986 in Kingston.
