Overtime Christmas Auction #9
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/5/2006
Intriguing document is dated October 16, 1939 and was signed in fountain pen by Toronto Maple Leaf legend Syl Apps. Stamped by Price Waterhouse accountants, the receipt reveals that Apps received a one thousand dollar signing bonus for penning his name at the bottom of a contract for the '39-40 season. A gentleman on and off the ice and one of Toronto's most respected and appreciated leaders, Apps helped the Leafs to three Stanley Cup titles during his 10-year NHL career, scoring 201 goals and 432 points in 423 regular season games. Crease-free receipt measures 3 1/4" by 7 3/4" with just a very minor smudge in "Syl" to mention.
