Overtime Christmas Auction #9
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/5/2006
Elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame for his on-ice exploits as a defenceman with the Calgary Tigers, Montreal Maroons and New York Americans, Mervyn Alexander Dutton was better known as “Red” and succeeded Frank Calder as NHL president, holding the position in 1943-44 and ’44-45. This note, acknowledging a fan’s request for signatures and photos, was signed in bold blue ballpoint by Dutton and later taped onto a 4” by 6” index card. The tape does make its way into the signature but it’s a nice one and worthy of your deceased Hall-of-Famer autograph collection. Dutton, who also coached and managed the Americans, was elected to the Hall in 1958 and died in 1987.
