Henri Richard had already helped the Montreal Canadiens to the Stanley Cup three times in his first three NHL seasons and was coming off an impressive 80-point season, second only to '57-58 scoring champ Andy Bathgate, when he inked this NHL Standard Player's Contract on September 22, 1958. It reveals that $15,000 is what the First Team All-Star centerman received for the '58-59 campaign. Richard did not cash-in on the bonus clause that called for an extra $100 for every point he scored over 60, finishing the regular season with 51. Eleven points in as many playoff games though helped Montreal to a record fourth straight Cup! Double-sided one-page document features a bold black ink "H de M Molson" signature of Habs president Hartland Molson on the back and is joined by that of Richard in blue ballpoint, with a big bold Clarence Campbell fountain pen sig on the front. Three Hall-of-Famers and interesting reading combine for a formidable piece.
