HOFers Gordon “Duke” Keats and “Bullet Joe” Simpson are featured in this fantastic 1920-21 Edmonton Eskimos hockey team photo. The Eskimos were among four Alberta teams that competed in top level senior ice hockey from 1919 to 1921 in the Big-4 League, which disbanded after two seasons. Edmonton and the Calgary Tigers moved on from the Big-4 to form the professional Western Canada Hockey League. The 7 5/8” x 9 3/4" team photo by McDermid Studio features the nucleus of Keats, Simpson, Art Gagne and coach Ken MacKenzie who went on to compete along with Eddie Shore against Ottawa in the 1923 Stanley Cup final. Displayed on a McDermid Studio matte and mounted in a 16” x 18” wood frame.
