A veteran of 724 National Hockey League contests after being drafted 7th overall by the Montreal Canadiens at the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft, Doug Risebrough would play eight (8) of his thirteen (13) years in the NHL with the Canadiens, helping them to four (4) Stanley Cups during that time in the 1970s. Hailing from a playoffs that saw him contribute seven (7) points in fifteen (15) games played, offered here is this Canadiens jersey worn by Risebrough during the 1978-79 Stanley Cup Playoffs that has been photo-matched to both the Semi-Finals versus Boston and the Cup Finals versus New York. A durene knit material garment made by Wilson, a partially detached size "42" tag from the brand remains affixed to the collar while a swatch displaying a chain stitched "78" has been added inside the right hip. Decorated over the front with Montreal's famed "CH" crest in layered tackle twill, the sleeves and verso have had Risebrough's number "8" sewn to them in dual layer white-over-blue tackle twill numerals while evidence of a nameplate that was once affixed and no longer present is seen across the top of the back.
Utilizing a garter style fight strap on the interior, the jersey shows excellent game-wear via stick marks over the front, reverse and both sleeves with the latter also showing wear via a good number of board burns as well. Exhibiting unrepaired holes and fabric runs throughout the front, reverse and both sleeves as well, the left sleeve numbers also sport green and red coloured board paint transfer marks while the interior displays some pilling and fraying around the areas of both elbows.
Regarding the photo-matches, an included numerical image of Risebrough taken during the Semi-Finals against the Boston Bruins is matched to the exact placement of the "8" on the reverse as well as the placement of "8" on the left sleeve. Additionally, the image also shows the nameplate as being the correct length based on the evidence that is seen from the one that was taken off. For images from the Cup Finals, Getty Image #1272909712, taken either during Game 3 (May 17th, 1979 vs New York) or Game 4 (May 19th, 1979 vs New York) is matched to the placement of the "8" on the right sleeve and Canadiens crest on the front from what we can see.
