Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Their 36th NHL season, the Detroit Red Wings were led by Gordie Howe’s 77 points during the 1961-62 campaign, with Terry Sawchuk winning 14 of the club’s 23 victories. The stick is a generic “Red Wing” youth model and is signed by 20. An Olympic Sporting Goods supplier stamp graces one side of the shaft along with all 20 ballpoint signatures including deceased HOFers Terry Sawchuk, Gordie Howe, Sid Abel, Bill Gadsby and Marcel Pronovost, along with fellow Hall members Alex Delvecchio and Norm Ullman. The signatures display well with virtually no fading, with the Sawchuk example attractive and not encroached upon by other signatures.
The other signers include Stasiuk, LaForge, MacGregor, Godfrey, MacDonald, Boileau, Lunde, Fonteyne, Jeffrey, Odrowski, Kennedy, Price and Lefty Wilson. The stick itself shows light age/storage wear, with a small section along the top edge of the blade broken off.
