Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
While hardly hyperbole to state the greatest season of The Great One as the 1985-86 NHL campaign, Wayne Gretzky would accrue an unfathomable 215 points including 163 assists during his third-last season in Alberta, with the Hart Trophy garnered along with selection as the First All-Star Team centerman. We have a stick used by the icon, with this example originally acquired from Wayne after the Nov 14th 1985 match vs Philadelphia , noteworthy for the Pelle Lindberg pregame memorial ceremony. A Titan TPM2020 model in familiar white with red identifiers, “W. Gretzky” has been stamped over the upper shaft, with a date code along the underside of “9 Oct 1985”. Sporting the original cloth-over-white tape on the handle with “99” handwritten below, the blade tape was removed to facilitate the personalized black marker signature. An LOA from Shawn Chaulk will accompany, along with a second LOA.
Nice use is exhibited on the desirable lumber, with wear to the blade including the underside, along with dark marks and abrasions to the shaft. There is also some blue paint transfer over the lower shaft in spots, with a few dark scuff marks near the handle, and wear to the aforementioned cloth grip. The second LOA is stating the provenance of the stick.
