The final surviving member of Toronto's 1932 Stanley Cup championship squad, Red Horner combined both exceptional defensive prowess with unabashed physicality, the Lynden native was also able to put the puck in the net with some frequency. Hailing from the Horner family, we have a Kiwanis wool sweater that was worn by the HOFer most likely in a benefit game of some sort, with a number of Kiwanis benefit games occurring during the early-1940s to help raise funds for the war effort. A label from Monarch Knit over the inside hem states “All Wool”, with an attractive and detailed thick blue felt team crest with layered and stylized “K” along with white accent threading utilized on the cream-coloured sweater. “2” in matching thick blue felt has been affixed to verso, with a few faint marks present over each sleeve along with a small stain over the reverse collar. An LOA from the Horner family will accompany.
A few small holes are also scattered about, with these doing absolutely nothing to undermine the wonderful display qualities. Measuring roughly 23" across the reverse from armpit to armpit, the jersey is approx. a size 46.
