Margaret Thatcher is featured among the five British Prime Ministers who signed this Queen Elizabeth II 1987 First Day Cover. Thatcher, who died in 2013, placed a bold blue ink signature on the bottom left of this 4 1/2" x 7 1/2" with the “87-12-30, Day of Issue, Ottawa Canada” stamp on the bottom right corner of the 37-cent Canada postage stamp featuring a glorious color image of Her Majesty. Edward Heath (d. 2005), James Callaghan (d. 2005), John Major and Tony Blair each placed nice big bold signatures along with Thatcher on the front, a run of five successive British prime ministers that runs from 1970 through 2007.
Caption on the verso of the image displayed on the upper left of the front reads: “The cachet shows Queen Elizabeth II reading the Speech from the Throne in the Senate Chamber, opening Canada’s 23rd Parliament during a Royal Visit in October 1957.”
