Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
A group of tribute items celebrating the legendary Summit Series are offered, with these specimens highly covetable due to their desirable provenance, as each hails from the personal collection of series hero, Paul Henderson. Included, we have a Team Canada reunion jersey from circa-1997, signed by the most paramount participant Henderson on the front, with 26 signing the reverse in black marker including Cournoyer, Lapointe, Mahovlich, Esposito, Savard, Seiling, Park, Dionne, Esposito and others. Next, we have a circa-1997 25th anniversary glass trophy with the famous goal scene engraved (7 ½”), a 1997 25th anniversary Royal Canadian Mint proof set, a framed Royal Canadian Mint proof dollar cast paper image display (16” x 20”), a framed 1997 Paul Henderson signed limited-edition lithograph P/P 20/72 (printer's proof) and seven signed “Relive Hockey History” posters (13 ½” x 25”). A signed LOA from Paul Henderson will accompany.
The remaining signers on the jersey include Harry Sinden, Bill White, Ed Johnston, Rick Martin, Don Awrey, Brian Glennie, Dale Tallon, Red Berenson, Jean-Paul Parise, Pete Mahovlich, Dennis Hull, Pat Stapleton, Rod Gilbert, Jocelyn Guevremont and Ron Ellis. The signatures display well, with just some minor bleeding into the material. The glass trophy is not chipped and shows light wear, with minor surface, corner and edge wear to the posters. The Royal Canadian Mint proof dollar cast paper image display includes an inserted coin made from the original sculpture, with a small plaque also inserted listing the particulars. The Henderson lithograph is by Steven Houston and is approx 17” x 21” (exposed), with Paul signing the bottom left in pencil, the artist, the bottom right.
