Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
"Look around - Kremlin, Red Square, Spasskaya tower - what a nice scene”. These words from legendary NHL defenceman Paul Coffey set the mood for the Dec 9th 2006 exhibition match played in Moscow’s Red Square – the first hockey games ever played at the historic locale – that pitted Russian legends against a team of “World Stars” to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the birth of Russian hockey. This signed “World Stars” jersey was worn at the event by Coffey. A single size “56” fly tag graces the collar, with all identifiers including the team crest, numbers and nameplate all sublimated. Coffey has added a blue marker signature to the left of the first reverse “7”, and it displays beautifully. With just a few faint marks present, the jersey remains in wonderful condition. A signed LOA from Paul Coffey will accompany.
Moscow, RUSSIAN FEDERATION: Alexey Kasatonov and Paul Coffey pose for a picture after a charity hockey match at the Red Square in Moscow. The charity hockey game in honour of the 60th anniversary of the birth of Russian hockey, the 50th anniversary of the former Soviet Union's first hockey victory at the Olympics and the 25th anniversary of the 'great five:' the KLM line of Larionov, Sergei Makarov and Vladimir Krutov and defencemen Fetisov and Alexei Kasatonov was played on Dec 9th 2006.
