Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
One the cusp of achieving what no other NHL team has been able to accomplish, the Montreal Canadiens would capture their second of five-consecutive Stanley Cup championships in 1956-57, handily defeating the rival Bruins in the finals in five games, only giving-up four goals. We have a stick signed by that famous Habs squad. An SSW Extra Special Professional model, a large Raymond Hardware logo appears on one side of the shaft from the supplier, with the “SSW” emblem on the blade hand-coloured in Canadiens red. With just a bit of tape over the knob, 18 have signed in ballpoint over one side of the shaft including deceased Hall members Plante, Beliveau, Johnson, Harvey, Geoffrion, coach Toe Blake and Rocket Richard. The signatures display decently overall with minor fading, with a few examples appearing lighter. An LOA from JSA will accompany.
The additional signatures include HOF member Henri Richard, along with Talbot, Pronovost, Marchall, Curry, LeClair and a few others. As mentioned, the signatures display fairly well, with the Plante considerably faded and harder to make out.
