Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018

Currently an assistant coach with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Mark Recchi is a three-time Stanley Cup champion as a player, and he's also the oldest player in NHL history to score a goal in the Stanley Cup Finals. This home set 2 Penguins jersey was worn by the BC native in his rookie season of 1989-90. Maska Ultrafil tagging including handwritten “8” and “48” appears in the collar, with a CCM crest on the back bottom hem. Styled with an attractive embroidered team crest, the solid white v-neck has been accented with double-twill numbers, with the important 1990 NHL All-Star game patch residing over the left shoulder. We should note that Recchi was eligible for the Calder Trophy in 1989-90, despite previously playing 15 games for Pittsburgh in 1988-89. Considerable game-wear is present on the garment, with marks present on the lower front and over each sleeve, along with 29 team repairs. We have 3 on the front, 19 on the right sleeve and 7 on the left, with most being material-backed examples. We also have heavy pilling to the interior elbow sections.
