Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
The Big Ten Coach of the Year for 2015-16, Red Berenson spent 33 years behind the bench of the NCAA Michigan Wolverines, chalking up an especially impressive record of 848-492-92. From the Summit Series–participant’s personal collection, we have a 2011 Michigan Wolverines NCAA Division I second place team trophy, along with a participation medal from 2004-05. The wooden NCAA trophy with oval-shaped base stands just over 10”, with a silver-coloured medallion with raised “NCAA” letters placed above, with inserted glass center with frosted generic player and “Ice Hockey 2011 Division I Second Place Team” below. The 2004-05 medal is 2 ½” in diameter, with “Division I Championship – Participant” in raised letters on the obverse, and “2004-05” over the reverse. A signed LOA from Red Berenson will accompany.
Both the award and medallion remain in wonderful condition with just light wear, with no issues to mention. The participation medal will be accompanied by a small wooden stand for display purposes.
