Defending Stanley Cup champions, the Dallas Stars would again advance to the Stanley Cup finals in 1999-00, with a strong New Jersey contingent led by Martin Brodeur too much for the Stars to handle, with the club losing in six. Originating from that successful season and hailing from his personal collection, we have a great group of items used by Hall of Fame netminder Ed Belfour. Included, we have a photo-matched Vaughn blocker and glove combo that both saw use this season, a Vaughn neck protector, a Vaughn chest protector and Bauer Reactor skates both attributed to use with the Stars, a signed inner glove and a pair of Vaughn game-issued pads from circa 1999-00. A signed LOA from Ed Belfour will accompany.
The blocker and glove are both in Stars colours, with Beflour embroidered on to each along with Ed’s patented eagle, with “1.690 lbs” handwritten within the interior of the blocker. Both show heavy use, with puck marks covering the face of the blocker and pocket of the glove. There are also a few repairs to the glove, with Getty Image #72328060 (Oct 25, 1999) matched to the three small black marks on the top edge of the glove, while Getty Image #72377056 (November 9th 1999) has been matched to a number of black marks on the blocker. The chest protector is a Vaughn VP5500 Bioflex model in solid black, with just light use exhibited. Next, the Vaughn neck protector shows heavy use, with the inner glove which shows nice use (worn inside the trapper) signed in blue marker. The Bauer Reactor skates both show considerable use, with no blades intact, with heavy marks, scratches and abrasions to the shells including chipping to the material over the toe of the left skate. Lastly, the pads are hand crafted Vaughn models in Stars colours, with “Belfour” embroidered on to each, along with Ed’s trademark eagle, with both pads in beautiful condition, ideal for display.
