One of the nine “dynasties” recognized by the NHL, the Detroit Red Wings won an impressive 4 Stanley Cup championships in a period of only 6 seasons, from 1949-55. We have a game-used stick attributed to Metro Prystai, and it’s been team-signed by the 1954-55 Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings. A Northland Pro model, “10” appears handwritten on the upper shaft (Prystai wore #10 in 1954-55), with stamps from Motown supplier “Lippman’s” gracing each side of the shaft. The original tape is in place over the knob, with a few strands remaining over the blade, with 18 signatures present over one-side of the shaft including deceased HOFers Sawchuk, Howe and Pronovost, along with Delvecchio, Lindsay, Kelly and others.
The stick shows heavy wear with numerous cracks throughout the blade and lower shaft, while the majority of the signatures remain dark and display well including the Sawchuk and Howe. Others who have signed include Reibel, Pavelich, Skov, Wilson, Leswick, Dineen, Goldham, Woit, Hay, Hillman and Lefty Wilson.
