Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Great pair of vintage items, each commemorating a Stanley Cup win by the 1950s Montreal Canadiens dynasty, were presented to Habs p.r. man Camil DesRoches, including his Presto lighter to mark the 1952-53 Canadiens’ five-game win over Boston in the Stanley Cup final. His initials “C.D.” appear on one side and “Stanley Cup Winners 1953” is engraved on the other side. “National Hockey League – Stanley Cup Winners – 1956-57 – Club de Hockey Canadien Inc. – Camil Desroches – Publicity Director” is engraved across the top of a three-sectional serving tray that was presented to players and executives to commemorate the second of Montreal’s record five consecutive Stanley Cup wins.
Included are copies of the original LOAs from the DesRoches family when these items originally sold. (The copied LOAs enumerate more items than are included in this lot.)
The lighter is wonderfully preserved and comes with its Presto pouch.
The 1956-57 Stanley Cup championship serving tray with “Wm Rogers & Son – E.P. on Copper” stamped on the bottom measures 14 1/4" x 20” and has acquired an elegant patina. It is very nicely preserved with light surface scratches.
