Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Extremely rare with just the very odd single example surfacing, we have a tremendous collection of vintage team-signed Boston Bruins pucks totaling four, hailing from the Stanley Cup championship seasons of 1938-39 and 1940-41, along with pucks from 1931-32 and 1937-38. All Spalding official NHL examples with visible logos, the 1931-32 puck has been signed by 10 including HOFers Thompson, Barry Clapper and Harry Oliver, the 1937-38 example has 15 autographs including HOFers Dumart, Weiland, Bauer, Conacher, Cowley, Shore, Clapper, and Milt Schmidt. HOFers Shore, Brimsek, Clapper and Milt Schmidt have signed along with 7 others on the white hockey tape that covers one face and the side of a Spalding puck autographed by the 1938-39 Stanley Cup champion Bruins. Finally, the 1940-41 puck has been signed by 16 including HOFers Brimsek, Schmidt, Clapper, Bauer, Dumart and Bill Cowley. An LOA will accompany.
Along with the HOFers mentioned, the 1931-32 Spalding puck has also been signed by Hitchman, Jerwa, Galbraith, Chapman, Runge and Foster, the 1937-38 puck by Hollett, Getliffe, Portland, Pettinger, Weiland, Jackson, Sands and Goldsworthy, the 1938-39 puck by Getliffe, Portland, Crawford, Hollett, Pettinger, Hill and Sands, and finally, the 1940-41 puck by Cain, Hill, Conacher, Jackson, Shewchuck, Crawford, Hollett, Wiseman, Smith and Hammill. The majority of the signatures display well, with the white text contrasting admirably against the black puck surfaces, with some signatures exhibiting some light fading. As an added bonus, each puck comes with a 5” x 3” x 5” ½” display case, with a wooden base and removable glass top, with a sticker added over each front listing the date of each offered puck.
