Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
Guarding the creases within numerous leagues throughout the 1960s including the CAHL, EHL, OHA and others, Bobby Taylor made his NHL debut with the Philadelphia Flyers in 1971-72, and would see action with the club in 44 regular-season contests spread over five seasons. This highly desirable original fiberglass goalie mask was worn by Chief during his time with the Broad Street Bullies in the early-1970s, and it’s been photo-matched! Featuring an attractive “sunburst” design with alternating black triangles, what appears to be the complete original padding is intact, with reinforcing tape added to parts of the strapping. Exhibiting it’s original surface – unchanged since seeing NHL use nearly half a century ago – there are numerous chips and marks throughout, with the opening over the bottom right broken away, with the strapping attached to second slit added. The interior shows wear as well, with some minor soiling to some of the padding, with no large cracks visible whatsoever. Two photos signed by Taylor will accompany, with one showing numerous matches regarding marks, blemishes and wear. This historic mask is worthy of inclusion within any of the world’s absolute best goaltender and mask collections. A signed LOA from Bobby Taylor will accompany.
