Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019

A fitting memento to close out a Hall of Fame career that witnessed 11 visits to the Stanley Cup finals in only 15 seasons, we have a Toronto Maple Leafs Maple Leaf Gardens 10K gold lifetime pass that was presented to Bert Olmstead during his final NHL season, where he was crowned a Stanley Cup champion for the fifth time in his career. At 1” in diameter, a raised and detailed maple leaf sits over the obverse along with “Toronto Maple Leaf Hockey Club Stanley Cup Winners 1962”, while the reverse feature’s “Pass” above in larger letters, along with “Bert Olmstead” and “World’s Champion – To Maple Leaf Gardens Any Time”. A facsimile Conn Smythe signature sits beneath the text along with “Pres.”, with “Birks” and “10K” stamped along the edge. The pass has an approximate weight of about 15 grams.
With minor wear to the surface from handling, the pass also exhibits a few a pair of cuts/gouges just below “PASS” and over the “N” of “CHAMPION”, with an additional pair of blemishes over the obverse. Despite these issues, the pass displays wonderfully.
