Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
Finishing first in the Canadian Division and tying the Houston Aeros for first-place overall, the Winnipeg Jets lost just a single playoff game in 1975-76 en route to a WHA championship. The Jets would be the most successful WHA squad, winning three of the seven league championships. This championship medal was presented to Bobby Hull by the City of Winnipeg. At 2” in diameter, the gold-coloured medal has “Outstanding Achievement Award” in raised letters over the reverse along with a City of Winnipeg coat of arms, with “Bobby Hull” engraved over the obverse along with “Winnipeg Jets” and “World Hockey Association Champions 1975-76”. In gorgeous condition with just handling wear, the medal comes in its original blue velvet box (4” x 3” x 1 ¼”) with City of Winnipeg coat of arms over the interior lid. A signed LOA will accompany from the son of a close friend to Bobby Hull.
