Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024

Hailing from the 1975-76 season that witnessed the Winnipeg Jets cap the team's fourth WHA campaign with their first Avco World Trophy, we have a Bobby Hull Winnipeg Jets Avco Cup Championship 10K gold salesman's sample ring. Led by Hull, Winnipeg lost just once in 13 playoffs games, sweeping Gordie Howe's two-time reigning champion Houston Aeros in the finals. Size 10 1/2 with a weight of approx 26 grams, "Winnipeg Jets" appears in raised gold on the inner bezel and "75 WHA 76 Champions" surrounding the outer bezel. "Jets" appears in gold lettering on the huge blue stone set in the tableau. "Hull" and a Jets logo are displayed on the left shank (there is blue enameling on the left side of the Jets logo, with this the only thing differing from the rings that were presented to the players, with no enameling on those rings), while the WHA logo appears on the right shank with "Avco Cup" above. "Jostens 10K" is stamped inside the band. Regarding condition, the ring exhibits honest wear from use, with numerous scratches to the outer band and along the shanks. There is also a number of small dings along edges of the band.
