Argonauts great Bill Symons had a 1968 CFL Most Outstanding Player trophy to his credit when he picked up some more hardware at the 1971 CFL All-Star Game in Montreal. The Toronto running back claimed All-Star Game MVP honors as the squad of the CFL’s top players beat the reigning Grey Cup champion Alouettes 30-13 at the Autostade on June 29, 1971. Offered are a pair of trophies presented to Symons from the game, including his “1971 C.F.L. All Star Game Outstanding Player” trophy. The silver-colored bowl atop a wood base stands 10 1/4" tall overall with a plaque attached to the front of the square wooden base with the trophy’s name, Symons’ full name, and the notation that it was “awarded by Labatt Breweries of Canada Ltd.” The wood base stands 5” tall and is 9 1/4" long on each side. The silver-colored bowl, which stands 5 1/4" tall, is missing the top part of the trophy. The base has some pencil lines drawn on the right side. Also included is an 8” tall trophy with a plaque on the front of its wooden base that reads, “Canada Permanent Trust All-Star Cup 1971 B. Symons All-Stars”, which was also presented to Bill at the CFL’s preseason showcase. Comes with Bill Symons’ signed letter of authenticity.
