Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
Alex Delvecchio’s sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct during the 1958-59 season combined with his high level of playing ability garnered him the first of his three Lady Byng Trophy wins during his Hall of Fame career with the Detroit Red Wings. From Delvecchio’s personal collection, this plaque is what NHL trophy winners took home to commemorate their fine seasons, in Alex’s case a campaign that saw his record 19 goals and 54 points with just six penalty minutes (three minor penalties!) in 70 games. Solid and very heavy wood and metal production measures approximately 10” by 12” and features the NHL shield above “Annual Award” and “Won By” in raised letters with engraved plaques that read “Lady Byng Memorial Trophy” and “Alex Delvecchio Detroit Hockey Club Inc. 1958-59.” Comes with Alex Delvecchio’s signed LOA.
